It was an SOS call.
She had a sales call in an hour and was struggling with doubt about charging so much to help someone and if they’d even pay.
As I walked around my backyard, deadheading my flowers, I began asking her some questions.
Explaining the incredible value she brought to her clients and how working with her would change the trajectory of their lives for good, strengthening their marriage, improving their finances, and freedom from debt. She’s a personal finance coach.
Eventually, the main issue came out, “I don’t deserve to get paid so much for something that comes so easy for me.”
Feeling unworthy or not deserving abundance shows up in your business in many ways
It’s one of the myths blocking your business success that I talk about in my 5 Money Myths Exposed Masterclass.
Undercharging so no matter what you do, you won’t have an abundance of money because you feel guilty about having a lot of money and losing it all in the past.
Finding ways to give away or spend all your profits so it disappears faster than $100 at Costco.
Massive amounts of fear and doubt before sales calls so you don’t schedule them even though you know you could help them.
Keeping all your money in growing the business, yet struggling to pay yourself more than a couple of thousand dollars.
This tip I’m about to share with you has helped me be more comfortable receiving abundance in my business every single day, but first, let’s talk about where feelings of unworthiness to receive abundance come from.
Where Unworthiness of Abundance Comes From
Whether it was your parents yelling at you every time you asked for something or others saying you don’t deserve to have anything good, or so much shame over past money mistakes.
We all have struggled with feeling unworthy to receive abundance.
The real issue is that you doubt that God could love you so much that He wants to lavish His generosity on you.
You feel like you still have to earn His favor and if you don’t do enough or not be good enough, (and who knows what that even is), you will fall short.
Or if you make mistakes His love and generosity will be taken away.
You’re taught that it’s better to give than receive and that if you receive God’s lavish generosity towards you then you’re being greedy.
Because why should you be so blessed when others aren’t or don’t have as much as you are?
Even after years of teaching how to align your beliefs about money with Scripture, when it came time to buy my home and pay much more than I ever thought I would, I had to work through being able to receive such lavish gifts from God.
Another example, is Michelle realized that she was passing down shame about asking for things down to her son because she was unable to receive God’s generosity towards herself.
Quick tip: See Payments as a Gift and Celebrate
When you know and believe that you are already loved and accepted by a good, generous Father who delights in good gifts to you, it makes it easier to receive His lavish generosity towards you.
You don’t have to do anything to deserve His love and the good gifts He gives you.
Yes, He does what you do to be an extravagant giver with the abundance that He lavishes upon you in order to show off His generosity, but that’s not the only thing He wants you to do with His money He gives you.
The main way that He provides for your needs and the needs of your family is through the payment you receive by serving others in your business.
Selling is serving and loving others. Paying is thanksgiving.

He wants you to manage His money well
Even if you haven’t in the past, you probably didn’t have a good plan or someone teaching you how to manage money well.
But what I found to be very interesting is that one of God’s purposes for money is that you might enjoy His lavish gifts.
Ecclesiastes 6:2
Deuteronomy 8 and 11
And He wants to enjoy you enjoying His generosity with you!
It’s just like how you love to give gifts to your children or your nieces/nephews and you love to watch them enjoy the gift.
If you are too focused on just one purpose of money, even giving everything away because you don’t feel worthy to receive God’s abundance, your reflection of God’s character is diminished.
You need to have a balance of all these purposes as you steward money.
The one thing I decided to do to help me become more comfortable receiving the abundance God gives me in my business
I set up a text notification any time a new client pays me.
Every time I see that text, I do a happy dance and thank God for the opportunity to serve another woman, on my way to serving 100 thousand women.
I praise God for His faithfulness in providing for me and my needs through this client and ask for wisdom in how I manage the money.
I lift up this new client and ask that they would experience the presence of our Creator through my products or coaching so she can break through the money blocks she’s struggled with for decades and can build a flourishing business that allows her to create a massive legacy of impact and generosity.
This simple practice allows me to keep my focus on God as my faithful provider and my loving Father who delights in giving me good gifts, simply because of who He has created me to be as His daughter.
