Stop Feeling like a Fraud as a Christian Entrepreneur and Overcome Imposter Syndrome

Now if you struggle with imposter syndrome in your business and not feeling good enough, no matter how much you accomplish or how much clients appreciate you, this episode is for you.

This question comes from Cassie who writes in and says,

“I don’t have much money and cannot seem to make much in my business. I have doubt, overwhelm, and imposter syndrome, definitely feelings of not being good enough. My finances are increasingly worse and I feel guilty as I’ve invested in things I probably shouldn’t have, so I’m going around in circles. Any tips?”

Oh sweet friend, absolutely! This is a great question! You’re not alone, so many of us female entrepreneurs struggle with the same feelings of not being good enough, having imposter syndrome, and being a fraud.

Imposter syndrome: feeling not good enough

Even now after being in business for 19 years, there are times I feel not good enough. Why should anyone listen to me when I speak on stage? I don’t have everything together in my business and they’ll find out I’m just a fraud.

But I’ve learned some strategies that help me quickly deal with imposter syndrome and overcome it

I believe that imposter syndrome hits so many Christian Female Entrepreneurs especially hard because of the incredible impact and legacy God has designed for you to create.

When you believe the lie that you don’t have anything of value to offer another person and really can’t get the transformation our clients desire. Or that you’re not good enough which causes you to constantly hide behind the shame of never measuring up,

What you’re really saying is you don’t believe that you have any value and now you experience major consequences.

Because of the overwhelm, doubt, and feelings of not being good enough, now you’re not marketing your business and how you can help people. Or you’re undercharging on those times you ask for the sale, though asking for the sale doesn’t happen as often as you should.

This affects your finances and how much you can bring home to your family. If you’re stressed about money, your relationships are strained.

You feel depressed, discouraged and doubt that your business will even work out.

It affects your walk with God because you feel unworthy of anything good in your life. You feel regret because you know you’re disappointing God and letting others down because you’re not living up to the calling He’s given you to impact multitudes.

This means your potential clients are going to continue to struggle all because you believe you’re not able to provide the transformation.

Don’t you think that this attack on your mind is intentionally designed to limit your legacy and impact that will bring God glory?

Expose the root

You are the daughter of the Most High King and you have been redeemed.

Because He is good and now resides in you, you are good enough. The pressure of being good enough is something that you don’t need to carry any longer.

Remember your value comes from the ransom price that Jesus paid.

He has brought you through circumstances and all of your life experiences so that you are now equipped with the exact combination of skills, gifts, and abilities your clients need and are praying for.

Nancy, one of my students, realized that this internal dialogue she had of believing that she wasn’t good enough, was really telling God that what He did on her behalf wasn’t enough and she was accusing Him of lying because she doubted the value He had placed on her life.

You can rest secure in knowing your true identity and the incredible value that comes from who God created you to be and the cost of His love that He has set upon you.

Serve from this place and imposter syndrome will vanish.

It isn’t about you, but the people you’re called to serve and this is how you become relatable

Your clients aren’t looking for perfection or someone who has it all together.

When you see someone who portrays that level of perfection, that’s when you think they are fake. We think that they are too good to be true.

You don’t want others to think you’re a fake, right?

Plus it’s exhausting to try and maintain a certain image.

If you pull back the curtain, showing that you don’t always have it all together and sometimes you struggle too, this is authentic and relatable.

All you need to do is be a couple of steps ahead and reach back to those who haven’t gotten there yet to show them the way.

Think about the passion you have to see your clients break free from this struggle or get the shortcuts so they don’t have to struggle as long as you did.

They are praying desperately for an answer to their problems.

My go-to verses you can have to overcome imposter syndrome

Isaiah 43:1-4 Because you are precious in my eyes and honored and I love you, I give men in return from you, people in exchange for your life.

2 Corinthians 4:7 God has made His light shine in our hearts and we have this treasure in jars of clay to show that the surpassing great power is from God and not us.

2 Corinthians 12:9 My grace is sufficient for you, my power is made perfect in weakness.

It’s only when you acknowledge that there are areas you’re not the best at, that’s when you let God’s power shine through you and that’s when others will be drawn to know God.

Isn’t that what we all want? To glorify God in our business?
