This video is for the Christian business woman whose greatest desire is to honor God with her wealth and not feel guilty for being blessed when others aren’t.
I’m going to share 7 rapid sure fire ways that you can honor God with your wealth and give you some verses to study.
Listen, if you don’t do #4, it’s going to make it hard to do any of the rest of the ways to honor God with your wealth, plus #7 will surprise you.
And no, honoring God with your wealth doesn’t mean you have to sell everything you own.
I’ll be giving you several Scriptures references so you can look up the passages later so make sure you have something to write with.
1. Recognize Your Wealth Comes From God
The most important way you can honor God with your wealth is by recognizing all your wealth comes from God and He is the one who gave you the power to create wealth as it says in Deuteronomy 8:18.
It is because of His covenant of love that He bestowed upon you that He has equipped you to be able to create wealth.
Just think, before you got started in business, it was an idea. You have taken the idea God gave you and have created a business that creates wealth by serving others.
Remembering that all of your wealth is God’s in the first place and He has given it to you will keep you humble, grateful, and joyful.
Even if you do nothing else, if you recognize that all your wealth comes from God and He gave you the power to create wealth, this will put you squarely into the godly rich category that I talked about in my last video.
2. You are blessed to be a blessing
When you know and understand you are blessed with wealth to be a blessing to as many people as you can, you are honoring God and causing others to see what a generous God you serve.
This blessing comes because of God’s covenant with Abraham, which you have access to because Jesus took the curse that was on you, onto His own body at the cross.
Gen 12:2-.3 “And I will make of you a great nation, and I will bless you and make your name great so that you will be a blessing. I will bless those who bless you, and him who dishonors you I will curse, and in you, all the families of the earth shall be blessed.”
I know many of you know you are blessed to be a blessing.
However, when the real meaning behind this blessing from God is being exceedingly blessed in all areas including wealth, that makes you very uncomfortable.
Does it really mean being exceedingly wealthy?
You wonder if it’s really ok to be that wealthy as a Christian and what will people really think of you. If you do become that wealthy, will you waste the wealth on foolish things as you have before?
In Abraham’s story, since he walked with God, and believed and trusted in God’s promise to make him exceedingly wealthy for the purpose of being a blessing to all nations, his faith was counted to him as righteousness.
Not only that but there are 8 mentions of Abraham’s exceedingly great wealth throughout his story. Eight is significant because it means to partner with God to make the world a better place by serving others, which is what Abraham did.
3. Take Joy In Being Generous With Your Wealth
Give cheerfully out of your abundance to meet needs for God loves a cheerful giver 2 Cor 9:7-11
This way to honor God with our wealth comes most naturally for you and me.
We absolutely love to give generously to meet the needs of those around us!
The reason why being a cheerful giver honors God with our wealth comes down to our heart posture.
When you are overwhelmed by the extravagant generosity of God towards you, one of which shows up in the wealth He has given, you want to give to others so that they might experience His generosity as well.
Because your heart is tuned into God’s heart, you see needs around you and you have the money to give to meet those needs.
These are verses that have had a huge impact on shifting my money mindset in line with Scripture
Both 2 Cor 9 and Gen 12 are two verses out of a list of 13 that I put together in a simple pdf worksheet.
And when you go through the workbook, I guarantee you’ll think about money differently.
This means you won’t have as much fear, or confusion around money and wealth as a Christian businesswoman anymore.
Instead, you’ll have more peace and confidence about money as you learn God’s key for money.
4. Honor God With Your Wealth By Receiving His Generosity
Fully receiving God’s generosity towards you and not rejecting it based on a belief you’re not worthy of His delight + goodness.
James 1:17 “Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow due to change.”
This one is a hard one for many Christian women because you’ve been told by others and yourself, that you don’t deserve anything good.
That you’re not worthy of God’s generosity or that God really doesn’t want to give to you. It’s prideful and arrogant to receive something good for yourself, after all, it’s better to give than receive right?
Or maybe you’ve told yourself that you have to earn God’s generosity through your performance and that it can be taken away if you don’t measure up.
I’ve struggled with many of these beliefs myself
It wasn’t until my husband and I were getting ready to buy our first home after 14 years of renting, that I came face to face with God’s abundant generosity for me.
He had provided the resources we needed for a large down payment on a $480k home that was in a great neighborhood and checked off everything we had been praying for.
We were the only ones who made an offer, even though it was a sizzling market.
Because the house was so much and because God’s generosity was so extravagant on many levels, I wrestled with not feeling worthy and worried about what others would think.
As I prayed about it, the Holy Spirit spoke to me reminding me that God loves to give generously and He has extravagant delight in each of His children.
But if I can’t receive His generosity towards me, even though I love to give and I do give, I am not able to give as freely and as extravagantly to others because I don’t know what to be the recipient of extravagant generosity.
If you’re praying for a blessing, but don’t receive it with joy, you are rejecting the blessing
Whoa, that knocked me back, especially with what I teach, it is because of Jesus’s redemption and love that you are able to create a massive legacy of generosity that reflects God’s goodness to the world around you!
Fully receiving God’s generosity towards you and not rejecting it based on a belief you’re not worthy of His delight + goodness is honoring God… especially if you want to be extremely generous!
5. Managing and Stewarding Your Wealth Wisely
Wise stewardship is most often talked about in Christian circles, save for the future, budget, pay off debt, and don’t spend more than you make.
I see a lot of you buried under guilt and shame for past money mistakes or how you haven’t handled money wisely.
Often there are two simple reasons for this unnecessary guilt and shame. The first is that you have never had someone who was wise with money sit down with you and show you a simple, effective plan to follow.
The second reason is there are a lot of toxic money beliefs you grew up believing and you didn’t know what the Bible really says about money.
The truth of Scripture is so powerful to shift your money beliefs and bring freedom from money fears, guilt, and shame.
One thing I learned as I was teaching women how to manage their personal finances
Is that if you don’t include Biblical teaching on money to shift their money beliefs, I could tell them a plan on how to manage their money wisely all day long and it wouldn’t stick – because of the ingrained beliefs.
But when you include both a simple plan and use Scripture to deal with your beliefs, like I do inside my Becoming a Legacy Builder program, you become confident and joyful in managing your wealth wisely, knowing that it’s God’s wealth He has entrusted to you to steward.
As a business owner, you have the unique privilege of putting God on display in a very public light as you manage the cash flow in your business wisely how many businesses get in trouble because of evading taxes or doing shady things with their books?
Now, I might get some pushback for this next one but stay with me because number 7 will surprise you.
6. Investing Your Wealth To Bring Increase
Jesus’ parable in Luke 19 about the nobleman who gave his servants some of his money to conduct business with while he was away, talks about using the wealth you’ve been given so that you can cause it to grow and increase.
You will be held accountable for how you caused the wealth God has given you to increase and what you’ve done with it.
There are several ways to invest your wealth for yourself, including retirement savings, 401ks, and stocks. These ways of investing are a means of providing for your family in the future and leaving an inheritance for your children, which is important.
However, if you, in addition, invest your wealth in a business, or multiple businesses, that will continue to serve more people and make their lives better, this way of investing is tied to the covenant blessing God has promised.
When you invest in expanding your business so you can serve more people
This allows you to reflect God’s hand of provision for your family, and create wealth to be generous for every need within your community as we saw in 2 Corinthians 9.
You don’t have to wait until you’re gone to impact others with your money, you can do it right now!
7. Take Time To Enjoy The Wealth God Has Given You
In Deut 16, God gave the people of Israel specific instructions on how to celebrate the bountiful harvest, the wealth, that they were blessed with in three different feasts.
Feasts of Unleavened Bread, Feasts of Weeks, and Feast of Booths
They were to invite everyone; family, employees, friends, ministers of the gospel, and those who were in need and have a feast.
This feast was to be a joyful celebration, in honor of all the blessings they had received from that year’s revenue from their business and marked with generosity.
This feast was held in the very presence of God who joined them in the celebration and in how they gave a gift back to God out of the overflow He had given to them!
This one made my heart sing when I realized God takes part in celebrating the wealth He gave us!
When you enjoy the benefits of your wealth with family, friends, coworkers/employees, ministers of the gospel, and the needy, even God even comes down to celebrate with you!
We can learn a lot from God’s direction to the Israelites and celebrate the wealth created by serving others through our business with everyone around!
God promises to bless His people who walk with Him and believe His promises with many good things, fruitful businesses, and prosperity that overflows in joyous generosity.
He’s a good Father who delights in taking part in watching and participating with you as you enjoy the good gifts, and the wealth He has given you.
It’s like when my niece turned three, she loved playing dress up. I decided to make a dress-up trunk. I made her a tutu skirt and butterfly wings, and gave her a collection of dresses, and all kinds of other accessories.
When she opened it and her face lit up, she stopped ripping open all the gifts, and immediately tried on her tutu skirt.
Over the next few months, we played dress up every time I came over and we both loved it!
Your Heavenly Father loves to give you gifts
He knows you will enjoy it and loves to watch you enjoy them with others.
He wants to give you so much so that you can turn around and experience His heart of delight as you give lavishly to others.
